why i built hobbi
a few years ago, while living in rotterdam, i wanted to get into table tennis. the most popular club had a months-long queue. for another one, i showed up at 8pm on a school day like the website said β door locked, no one answering the phone. walking home in the rain.
a year later, i moved to germany and wanted to start boxing. i picked the place that looked safest from the outside β proper website, lots of reviews, everything. they talked me into the six-month deal before i'd thrown a single punch. two sessions later, i broke my nose and finally understood what kind of place it was. they weren't there to teach me. they were there to sell me.
so i built hobbi, hoping to take the friction out of trying something new β from not knowing what to try, to walking in for the first time, to coming back for the people in the room. and a fair shot for the studios that actually care.
